About Klipptik
The gap
You watch hours of video every week. Lectures, tutorials, talks, how-tos. You know there's gold in there — a specific explanation, a technique, a moment that clicked.
But when you need it again? Gone. Buried in a playlist. Lost in your watch history. You rewatch the whole thing to find two minutes.
Klipptik exists to close that gap.
What Klipptik does
Clip precise moments from YouTube and local video files. Organise them into a searchable, tagged, rated library. Play them back as seamless sequences. Share curated selections with anyone.
No video downloads. No editing timeline. No rendering. Just the moments that matter, organised your way.
What we believe
You're in control. Clip exactly what matters. Organise it your way. Find it in seconds. Your library, your rules.
Your data is safe. Local-first storage with cloud backup. We never store your videos — only your metadata. Full compliance with every platform we touch.
Built with you. Public roadmap. Direct feedback channel. A community that shapes what we build next. Solo-dev honesty, not corporate polish.
Small moments of magic. Smart chapter imports. Beautiful share cards. An interface that stays out of your way until you need it.
The story
Klipptik started with a simple frustration: rewatching a 45-minute lecture to find a 30-second explanation.
YouTube playlists don't solve this — they save whole videos, not moments. Note-taking apps capture text, not the video itself. Video editors are built for creating content, not managing knowledge.
Nothing existed in the gap between "watching" and "knowing." So I built it.
Klipptik is a solo-dev project. Every feature is shaped by real user feedback. The roadmap is public. The development is transparent. This isn't a startup trying to scale — it's a tool built by someone who needed it.
How it's built
Compliant by design. All video access through official platform APIs. YouTube IFrame Player for playback, Data API for metadata. No scraping, no downloads, no grey areas.
Private by default. PostHog EU Cloud for analytics, consent-gated. Pro users can export their library data at any time.
Web-first. Works in any modern browser. No install required. An Electron desktop app is available for power users with large local video collections.
Attribution
We use the YouTube IFrame Player API for playback and the YouTube Data API for metadata. All video access goes through official platform APIs in compliance with the YouTube API Services Terms of Service and the Developer Policies. We do not download, store, or modify YouTube video content.
